The suction cleaner comprises a primary cleaner (1) and an auxiliary cleaner (2). The primary cleaner has a fan (11) that sucks in air and an air channel (6, 7, 9) located upstream of the fan for directing the air through the cleaner. The auxiliary cleaner has a dust collection chamber connected to the air channel so that in use, dust in the collection chamber is drawn into the air channel for collection in the dust bag (8) in the primary upright cleaner. The power cable (19) is connected to the hand held unit and passes through a switch (14) before reaching the power transfer unit (27) that connects mains power to either the hand held cleaner or to the upright cleaner when the hand held cleaner is attached. Power is directed to the upright cleaner through a microswitch and a set of plug in contacts on the hand held cleaner. |
