COLOR FILTER AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve a cell gap unevenness or an orientation defect caused by generation of a large protrusion in an overlapping part of a colored pixel part and a black matrix, in a color filter for a color liquid crystal display device having a light shielding pattern part using a material formable in a relatively thick film, such as a resin-based material, for use not necessarily requiring a strict color reproduction characteristic. SOLUTION: In this color filter, its pattern outline is inside the periphery of an opening part of a black matrix 2 at an interval of 2-5μm. A color filter mask for manufacturing the color filter has an interval of 2-5μm between a pattern highest part outline of the black matrix 2 and a pattern outline shape of the color filter mask.
