PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element allowing the use of a great amount of various desiccants for superior long-term moisture resistance and, in particular, less existence of dark spots. SOLUTION: This element 100 comprises an organic electroluminescent laminate 22 having an organic luminous layer 18 sandwiched between an anode 12 and a cathode 20 and sealed by a sealing cap 24. A desiccant contained layer 42 is formed on the inner face 40 of the sealing cap 24.
