PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the voltage of a high-tension circuit and the current of a deflection circuit at brightness desired by a user and reduce power consumption, by controlling the voltage of the high-tension circuit and the current of the deflection circuit at the same time based on the control information from an input means. SOLUTION: When the user tries to reduce power consumption, he/she instructs a CRT display device to lower video brightness by operating an input means 1. A control 1 means 101 from the input means 1 is inputted to a calculating means 21 and outputs a control means 202 to lower EHT to a high-tension circuit 5 based on a preset arithmetic expression. At the same time, it outputs a control means 203 to reduce a deflecting current to a deflection circuit 6. When EHT is lowered, straight traveling force is decreased and the deflection angle is increased, so a video is enlarged. On the other hand, when the deflecting current is decreased, turning force is decreased ad the deflection angle is decreased, so the video is reduced in size. Therefore, the video can be displayed without changing the deflection angle by adequately keeping the balance of both.
