PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide arts for controlling a furnace pressure to reduce the occurrence of a fluctuation in a furnace pressure of a waste melting furnace. SOLUTION: A furnace pressure controlling method is that a furnace pressure is controlled by adjusting the opening of an inlet damper 20 of an induced draft fan 10 of an exhaust gas treating system to treat exhaust gas from a waste melting furnace 1 by a pressure regulator PIC situated in the waste melting furnace 1. The degree of a fluctuation in a furnace pressure is computed by a stock level of waste and a waste charging amount, a computing result is added as a forward signal in a manner to match with a waste charge timing with a control signal from the pressure regulator PIC held. A damper opening is regulated, and after a lapse of a specified time, a damper opening is regulated by a control signal from only the pressure regulator PIC.
