PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam generator for a steam cooking device, which is simple in structure, comparatively inexpensive in manufacturing cost and excellent in efficiency. SOLUTION: A steam generator 20 is provided with a casing 21 made up of hollow walls in which water is reserved, and a burner 23, ejecting the exhaust gas of combustion to the lower part of the casing. The casing is provided with a combustion chamber 20a for receiving the exhaust gas of combustion from the burner and a heat exchanging chamber 20b, in which the received exhaust gas of combustion is turned and raised upward after flowing thereinto from the combustion chamber. A heat exchanging unit, from which hollow walls of the casing are projected is made in the heat exchanging chamber. The boundary between the heat exchanging chambers and the combustion chamber is partitioned by a pair of bulkheads 27 opposed and projected into the casing excluding the lower part of the casing for passing the exhaust gas of combustion. The pair of bulkheads are made close to each other, so the bypassing of the combustion gas can be reduced without employing any additional part such as an insert or the like.
