<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for separating spectra of a plurality of stationary objects (including stopping vehicles) in front of its own vehicle and detecting the distance thereof through light load signal processing. SOLUTION: Spectra of a plurality of stationary objects (including stopping vehicles) in front of its own vehicle are separated using a millimetric oscillator 101, a circuit 115 generating a rectangular wave modulation signal 117 for switching the oscillation frequency of the millimetric oscillator 101 instantaneously between two frequencies, a circuit 113 generating a saw-tooth wave modulation signal 118 linearly such that the oscillation frequency of the millimetric oscillator 101 decreases with time, and a controller 116 for switching the rectangular wave modulation circuit 116 and the saw-tooth wave modulation circuit 116. Presence of a stationary object (stopping vehicle) in front is detected by signal processing using the rectangular wave modulation signal 117 and superposed spectra of a plurality of stationary objects are separated effectively by the saw-tooth wave modulation signal 118 thus detecting the distance of a plurality of stationary objects through light load signal processing.</p> |
