PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heating element with high heating efficiency and long life by inserting a filament into a bulb absorbing far infrared radiation having a wavelength of a specified range. SOLUTION: A bulb 1 is composed of 96 wt.% SiO2 and 4 wt.% B2O3. The bulb 1 having this constitution specifically efficiently absorbs far infrared radiation having a wavelength of 3 to 5μm. A filament 2 is made of a tungsten wire. A lead wire 4 is made of molybdenum. When commercial AC power is supplied to both ends of the lead wire 4, the filament 2 is heated and radiates primary radiation energy. The primary radiation energy reaches the bulb 1 by transmission and conduction. The bulb 1 is heated and radiates secondary radiation energy to the outside. As a result, energy radiated from a heating element to the outside becomes the sum of the primary radiation energy radiated from the filament 2 and the secondary radiation energy radiated from the bulb 1.
