PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it unnecessary to provide any magnetic disk device necessary for simultaneous access to plural virtual tapes, and to shorten the access time of target data in a virtual tape device. SOLUTION: A virtualized tape controller 200 is provided between a changer device 100 and a host 99 using a DVD(digital versatile disk) media as a storage medium. The virtualized tape controller 200 receives a command from the host 99 through a tape connecting means 210 for emulating the interface of a magnetic tape device. A request converting means 215 interprets the command, and generates a command for controlling a drive in the changer device 100 based on information indicating a data position on a virtual tape held by an access position holding means 217 and the leading position of data recorded in the virtual tape on media held by a conversion table holding means 218.
