摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower power consumption and to aim at high emission luminance, in a flat display device. SOLUTION: A first and a second substrates 1, 2 are arranged opposite to each other, and the first substrate 1 is formed with a first electrode group 31 formed of plural first electrodes 21, arranged in parallel with each other as which are to become one of discharge electrodes, and the second substrate 2 is formed with plural barriers 4 arranged to maintain required intervals and formed with a second electrode group 31 formed of plural second electrodes 22 as the other electrode of the discharge electrode. The second electrode 22 is formed on at least one side surface of the barrier 4 except for the top thereof, or formed inside of the barrier 4 so that at least one edge thereof faces to at least one side surface of the barrier or the one edge thereof is positioned near the side surface of the barrier. Plasma discharge display by the negative electrode glow discharge is thereby performed.
