PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of being adapted to size reduction and producing no noise. SOLUTION: This light source device is equipped in a casing 1, with a discharge lamp 2 and a reflector 3 for condensing the light from the discharge lamp 2. The discharge lamp 2 comprises a ceramic metal halide lamp 21 having an outer tube 22, and the ceramic metal halide lamp 21 is disposed so that its arc spot P is positioned substantially on an optical axis L of the substantially horizontal reflector 3. In the casing 1, air inlets 11 are formed below the optical axis L of the reflector 3, while air outlets 12 are formed above the optical axis L of the reflector 3 so that the interior of the casing 1 can be cooled by natural convection. |
