PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surveying device capable of receiving a signal transmitted from a target with a surveying device main body and quickly and correctly facing the target for collimation. SOLUTION: This surveying device comprises a telescope 101 collimating a target 2 and a total station section 1 having an automatic rotating mechanism rotating the telescope 101 to the direction to the target 2 and a collimator matching the target 2 with the center of the cross lines formed in the visual field of the telescope 101. The target 2 is provided with an inertial apparatus 203 and a communication mechanism 204 transmitting target movement information to the total station section 1. The telescope 101 is rotated to the direction of the target 2 according to the received target movement information, the target position information obtained by collimation is returned to the target 2, then the target 2 corrects its position and stores the present target position, and the target position of the next measurement point is measured with the present target position used as a reference point.
