PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the interior of a refrigerator, and facilitate looking at and taking out even a contained article in the interior of the refrigerator, and comfortably utilize the refrigerator. SOLUTION: The present refrigerator includes a causing 4, cooling means 6 contained in the casing 4 and including a compressor using an electric driven motor as a power source, and a cooling chamber 8 formed in the casing 4. The inside of the cooling chamber 8 is cooled with the cooling means 6. The casing 4 is formed into a columnar shape in its external configuration and has openings 11, 13 formed in a side surface of the ceasing 4 for opening the cooling chamber 8 to the outside and doors 12, 14 for opening and closing the openings 11, 13 for opening and closing the openings 11, 13. The refrigerator 2 includes a base, and the casing 4 is placed on the base rotatably on a substantially vertical hypothetical center line of the casing 4. The doors 12, 14 are disposed at casing sides located mutually oppositely putting the hypothetical center line therebetween.
