PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery having excellent balance over the durability and the discharging characteristic whereas the utilization area of the negative electrode is adjustable to any as desired and also reduce the resistance of positive electrode. SOLUTION: Only a positive electrode is charged before assembly of a battery, and thereby the area in which the negative electrode can be used is adjusted as desired, and a battery excellent in the balance over the durability and discharge characteristic can be produced. The rise of the battery internal pressure in the final period of charging can be suppressed even after frequent repetition of the charge-discharge cycles. Further on the positive electrode active material, an excellent cobalt conductive network can be formed and it is possible to reduce the resistance of the positive electrode.
