PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease polymerizable gaseous components of the inside, to suppress the formation of deposits by the reaction at a head-disk boundary and to prevent the magnetic disk fault by the deposits by providing the above device with a mechanism which polymerizes the gaseous component having polymerizability by a catalyst, etc., converting these components to material having a small vapor pressure and adsorbing and fixing the material. SOLUTION: The cause for the magnetic disk device fault by the trace gaseous components lies in that the gaseous components give rise to a polymerization reaction between the magnetic head 3 and the magnetic disk 2 and that the polymerized matter thereof turns to the deposit and accelerates wear. Then the expulsion of the material having the polymerizability is necessary. The mechanism for progressing the polymerization reaction at a temperature as low as possible is required for this purpose and the use of the ionic catalyst having an acidic active point or basic active point on the surface is recommended. As one example, a porous crystalline body consisting essentially of SiO-Al2O3 molded to a planar form is installed as the catalyst 1 in part of a disk housing part. As a result, the amounts of the head deposits decrease drastically as compared with the case the catalyst 1 is not installed.
