Process for obtaining a component active against hair loss by aqueous extraction of seeds of Lupinus albus. The process for obtaining a component active against hair loss comprises: (1) crushing Lupinus albus seeds to a powder with a particle size below 500 mu m; (2) dissolving in an aqueous solution to at least 25% by weight; (3) performing enzymatic hydrolysis, liberating the active material; (4) filtering the insoluable material off; (5) concentrating and purifying the filtrate in multiple and successive stages; and (6) sterilizing through a membrane to limit the presence of micro-organisms and yeasts. The active material may be formulated into any cosmetic composition suitable for application to the hair or scalp, preferably containing at least 15% of active material.
