PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a data reader capable of protecting data information in the case of reading a recording medium capable of being used by some devices. SOLUTION: This reader is provided with a specified information storing means 320 storing specified information to confirm whether specified data information or directory information is recorded on a recording medium, a deciding means 330 which compares the data information or the directory information read from the recording medium with the specified information to decide coincidence/noncoincidence, and a controlling means 350 which makes the reader operate in a limiting mode in which limitation is applied in handling the data information recorded on the recording medium from an external device when the comparison result is coincidental and in an unlimiting mode in which limitation is not applied in handling the data information stored in the recording medium from the external device when the comparison result is uncoincidental. |
