PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to embed copyright management information or the like without deteriorating the quality of data. SOLUTION: An original waveform signal S such as a sound signal and a video signal is approximated by a functional curve (b). A differenceδis generated between an approximate waveform F shown by the functional curve and the original signal waveform S. The original signal waveform S can be reproduced by transmitting the differenceδand the approximate waveform F. A curve of a prescribed shape (e.g. a circular shape) indicating copyright management information or the like is arranged on the inside of the waveform F. Respective curves are indicated by functions G1 to G6. Respective curves are arranged on the inside of the waveform F and set up so as to be partially shared with the waveform F. Consequently the copyright management information or the like can be padded without reducing the quality of the original signal waveform S.
