PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work support system and work support method which are suitable to improve the working efficiency by acquiring easily the detailed information on a target object and also facilitating the intuitive understanding of the target object. SOLUTION: A feature information is extracted from an image that is fetched by a CCD camera 1, and an area including the current spot is specified from the position measured by a GPS 2 and an error of measurement of the GPS 2. A data base 16 is retrieved on the basis of the specified area and a target object corresponding to the relevant position information is retrieved in the area. The matching is secured between the extracted feature information and the retrieved target object, and a target object that is accordant with the feature information is selected. The selected target object is outputted to a display part 13 and a voice conversion part 17.
