PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal protector which does not impair the conductive characteristic of a heating resistor comprising a PTC element, and efficiently conducts heat from the heating resistor to a bimetal. SOLUTION: A movable plate 41 is cut away into a U-shape at the center to form a reed 43 along the lengthwise axis of a movable plate 40. A reed 40 brought into close contact with an upper electrode surface 31 of a heating resistor 30. A lower electrode surface 32 of the heading resistor 30 is in contact with a fixed plate 10. Parts on both sides of a cutaway 46 on the movable plate 40 are made to act as an elastic arm 47.
