PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply sufficient heat energy to an image on a recording medium and to make obtainable the excellent carrying property of recording media having various thickness by bringing plural backup rollers into contact with a fixing roller. SOLUTION: This image fixing device is constituted as follows. The outside diameter of the fixing roller 1 is set to be larger than the outside diameters of the respective backup rollers 3, 4 and 5. Then, the axial center 4c of the 2nd-stage backup roller 4 disposed at a downstream side in the carrying direction of recording paper P with respect to the 1st-stage backup roller 3 is set at an opposite side to the roller 1 with respect to the tangent line T1 of the roller 1 at the abutting part 9 of the roller 3 and 1.
