PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze a substance, to be detected, simply, quickly and with high accuracy by detecting the formation of a sandwich complex by the substance to be detected (e.g. an antigen), by a labeling specific bonding substance in which a specific bonding substance (e.g. an antigen) with reference to the substance to be detected is labeled with coloring particles (e.g. metal colloids) and by a second immobilized specific bonding substance (e.g. a second antibody). SOLUTION: A labeling-substance holding layer 16 in which a labeling specific bonding substance is contained in advance is formed on a detection layer 14 in which a second specific bonding substance is immobilized. When a liquid sample which contains a substance to be detected is spotted, a sandwich complex can be formed in the detection layer. Since the labeling specific bonding substance which is excessive is moved tp a water absorbing layer 12 so as to be removed when a liquid is diffused and moved inside an analytical element, and a cleaning operation or the like is not required. The amount of the sandwich complex which is formed in the detection layer can be measured easily on the basis of the absorption of labeling coloring particles. Since this analysis uses a dry analytical element, it can deal easily with a small measuring apparatus.
