PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC generator for a vehicle which does not deteriorate fan sound and can cool each heat generating part in a well-balanced state. SOLUTION: An AC generator 1 for a vehicle is equipped with a rotor 3, a stator arranged on the outer peripheral side of the rotor 3, and a rectifier 8 which converts a three-phase AC generated by a stator winding 21 of the stator 2 to a DC current by using a rectifier element 81. The rectifier 8 is arranged on the intake side of a cooling fan 12 fixed on the rear side end surface of the rotor 3. The stator winding 21 is arranged on the exhaust side of the fan. In a region of the number of idling revolutions of a vehicle, the heating value of the stator winding 21 is set to be smaller than that of the rectifier 8.
