PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the volume, weight, and the like of a tape measure to a fraction of those of a conventional tape like cloth measure by narrowing and thinning the conventional measure to the utmost limit into a thread shape, and dyeing different-colored bars in 10 colors instead of a direct reading scale and digits 0-9 for measuring length so as to read correctly a measuring numerical value. SOLUTION: This tape measure is provided which is connected to a container 14 containing a thread string 11 with its different-colored bars 13 dyed in 10 colors of red 1, pink 2, brown 3, orange 4, yellow 5, yellowish greens 6, green 7, sky-blue 8, blue 9, and purple 10, instead of a direct reading scale 12 and digits 0-9.
