PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for inspecting the side surface of a tablet capable of taking in the side surface image of the tablet while allowing the tablet to stably turn on its axis in an erected posture to inspect the side surface of the tablet easily with high accuracy and an apparatus for inspecting both upper and rear surfaces of the tablet capable of controlling the posture of the tablet to a horizontal posture to inspect both upper and rear surfaces of the tablet without applying large load or a large impact to the tablet. SOLUTION: A side surface inspection apparatus is constituted so that the tablet(t) housed in the holding pocket 231 of an outer cylindrical body 23 is allowed to turn on its axis while rotated on a continuously rotating inner cylindrical body 22 to take in the side surface image of the tablet. An upper and rear surface inspection apparatus is constituted so that the tablet(t) in a tablet housing part 61 is introduced into the tablet supply passage 61 of a vibration plate 62 to be moved to one end part of the vibration plate 62 and supplied to a surface inspection drum 4 from one end part of the vibration plate 62. A visual examination apparatus of a tablet is equipped with the side surface inspection apparatus and an upper and rear surface inspection apparatus.
