PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railless automatic carrier capable of easily coping with a change in route even when the route of the carrier is changed due to a change in production line as to an automatic carrier to be used for carrying parts in a production plant or the like. SOLUTION: The railless automatic carrier 1 has tachometers 4a, 4b for measuring the number of rotations of wheels 2a, 2b, the tachometers 4a, 4b are connected to a controller 10 and displacement sensors 5a, 5b are attached to the front and rear positions of the side faces of the carrier 1 and connected to the controller 10. When the carrier 1 is traveled, distances up to installation targets are sequentially recorded from traveling distances based on the rotational frequency of the wheels 2a, 2b and the carrier 1 is correctly traveled on a prescribed route on the basis of the recording data.
