PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable type optical information reader enabling an operator to operate it one-handedly and capable of inputting all required information such as quantity. SOLUTION: An optical information reading part for reading out optical information is stored in a main body case 2 of a bar code reader 1. A width dimension Z and a height dimension H are selected as the size of the case 2 allowed to be grasped by the hand of an operator. A reading start switch 5 for starting the reading operation of the optical information reading part and a rotational switch 4 for inputting information such as quantity by rotational operation are arranged in the case 2. These switches 4, 5 can be arranged on both the sides of the case 2 or one switch is arranged on the side face of the case 2 and the other is arranged on the surface. It is also available to arrange both the switches 4, 5 on the surface of the case 2. |
