PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head capable of surely applying a magnetic field from a photoirradiation side of a magneto-optical medium to a minute optical spot region formed in a recording layer by a high AN lens. SOLUTION: A magnetic head 10 is equipped with a magnetic head main body 1 and a printed coil 2. The magnetic head main body has a through hole 4 formed through which light beams converged by a lens 3 located just above the hole is allowed to transmits. The thickness in the direction of photoirradiation of the main body 1 is in a range of 10μm-200μm. Therefore, by using a high AN lens as the lens 3, even when a distance WD from the light emitting surface of the lens 3 to an optical magnetic recording medium 100 becomes narrow, it is possible to arrange the magnetic head main body 1 between the lens 3 and the magneto-optical recording medium 100 and further to apply an outer magnetic field into a minute optical spot region formed by a high AN lens.
