PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shield both acoustic and electromagnetic waves at low cost by composing a shielding material for acoustic and electromagnetic waves of a laminate, which contains at least one kind of synthetic fiber and carbon fiber, and a metallic foamed body. SOLUTION: This shielding material 1 has a structure made of ca carbon fiber layer 3 and a resin layer 4, sequentially laminated on a base layer 2 composed of a metallic foamed body. While a foamed body of metal such as aluminum, titanium, or nickel may be used as the metallic foamed body, it is preferable to use a foamed body of aluminum which is of low-cost, has ease of machinability and lightness. Furthermore, in place of carbon fiber, synthetic fiber may be used, such as acrylic fiber, acetate fiber, nylon, rayon, vinylidene fiber, vinylon, polyurethane fiber, polyester fiber, polyethylene fiber and polypropylene fiber. The synthetic fiber is preferably mat-shaped, and it is also preferable to use one of these synthetic fibers whose weight per unit area is about 20 kg/m3 or higher.
