PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a font generating device capable of generating font data with which characters in which jaggedness are not conspicuous are displayed based on preexisting font data. SOLUTION: This font generating device is constituted so that font data expressing a dot pattern 300 which is consisted of dots of the same number as that of a dot pattern 200 expressed by bit map data 50 and in which brightness of respective dots are decided according to ratios among corresponding dots of the dot pattern 200 and white dots and black dots existing the surroundings of the dots are generated on the basis of the bit map data 50 produced based on the preexisting font data.
