PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube having a flat effective screen, an enhanced strength and explosion-proof characteristic, and a lightweight construction. SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube of explosion-proof type is configured so that a shrink fit band 7 is wound on the side wall 4 of a panel part 1 and tightened and that a high rigidity reinforcing plate 5 in the form of picture frame is adhered to the non-picture image displaying portion of the face part 3.
