The clamp device has a housing (4) in which is received a contact element (8) with a contact arm (16) and a clamp arm (14). The housing (4) has a holder element (32,34). The contact element (8) has a recess (36,38) of a shape complementary to that of the holder element. When assembled, the holder element and the recess form an operative connection so that over-bending of one of the arms of the contact element (8) is prevented.
