The invention relates to a method and device as well as to a control unit for controlling at least one unit in a vehicle, whereby the noise caused by the unit and/or at least one value representing this noise is determined. To this end, the noise in the passenger compartment of the vehicle or at least one value representing this noise is determined. The noise caused by the unit and/or the value representing the same is correlated with the noises in the passenger compartment and/or with the value representing these noises. According to the result, the type of control or a control signal for this unit is determined/formed and/or adapted.
