<p>A method and system for improving the fast retrain procedure on a telephone line such as a digital subscriber line. The improvement may include transmitting application requirements or profiles to be used in selecting appropriate communication profiles for changing line conditions. In certain instances when no profiles are appropriate, a best-fit profile is selected and modified according to the current line conditions and/or the application requirements. Exemplary methods of modifying the selected profiles to help adapt to changing line conditions are described.</p> |
