A method of measuring the electric potential of an electric conductor (1), enclosed in an insulating encapsulation sleeve (2), relative to an earthing electrode (3) by means of an electric meter (7) connected via a resistance (4) directly joined to the conductor between the conductor and the earth electrode (3). The resistance (4) is formed by a part-zone (4) of the insulating sleeve (2) which is covered by an electrically conductive casing (6) and is heated to a temperature corresponding to a given measurement temperature, higher than an ambient temperature. The measurement temperature specifically corresponds to a given maximum working temperature of the insulating sleeve.
