PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a plasma display panel with high light emitting efficiency, and to improve color reproducibility by performing heating steps in a state of contacting dry gas with an arranged phosphor. SOLUTION: A front panel board 10 and a back panel board 20 are superposed, so that a sealing glass layer 15 is interposed/inserted between both boards, while positioning both boards to be put in a heating furnace 51. Pipes 52a, 52b inserted/arranged from the outside of the heating furnace 51 are connected to glass tubes 26a, 26b, and after evacuating the inside space once by exhausting air by a vacuum pump 54 from the pipe 52b, dry air is sent in at a definite flow rate from the pipe 52a. The dry air flows to the inside space between both panel boards 10, 20 to be exhausted from the pipe 52b, and the sealing glass layer 15 is softened by heating both panel boards 10, 20 to be sealed. A gas, such as water vapor adsorbed in the front panel board and the back panel board is released by a heating temperature rise.
