<p>An instrument for analysing cereal grains includes a sample holder (10) for holding a cereal grain, a light source (28) for illuminating a cereal grains in the sample holder, and a detector (32) for detecting and measuring the intensity of light emanating from the grain. A cereal grain (34) in the sample holder (10) is illuminated with light from the light source (28), and transflected light emanating from the grain is detected with the light detector (32). The intensity of the detected light is measured, and the grain is categorised according to the intensity of the detected light.</p> |
