The invention concerns a method to run a vehicle transmission, specially to control an automatic transmission, having the following characteristics: before a shifting operation takes place a signal (MMR) is produced, which gives an order to reduce the driving torque (Mmot) passed on to the transmission; the order is recorded; after the order has been executed the shifting occurs; when synchronous speed (Msynchron2) between input and output speed (n, n2) of the transmission is reached, the driving torque (Mmot) passed on to the transmission is once again peaked.
