A wax insert forming machine (10) is provided comprising liquid wax supply apparatus (20) having an outlet (20A) for providing liquid wax to be formed into one or more wax inserts (12), a forming wheel (35) positioned adjacent the liquid wax supply apparatus (20), and drive apparatus (40) effecting substantially continuous rotation of the wheel (35). The forming wheel (35) includes a plurality of cavities (36) spaced about an outer periphery of the forming wheel (35) and a plurality of discharge elements (50) extending into the cavities (36). Each of the cavities (36) receives a charge of the liquid wax as it passes adjacent to the supply apparatus outlet (20A) and the discharge elements (50) eject the wax charges after they have substantially solidified while in the cavities (36). The ejected wax charges comprise wax inserts (12).
