PURPOSE: A method for representing a display mode by using an OSD(On Screen Display) is provided to easily set display conditions of display modes of image signals generated in a computer according to optimum display mode conditions of a display monitor, and easily recognize the set display mode. CONSTITUTION: A method for representing a display mode by using an OSD(On Screen Display) includes the steps of selecting whether to display default information for a predetermined time period whenever changing display mode(initiating step;S14), determining whether an input display mode is selected(mode change determining step), determining whether to display the default information when the input display mode is changed(default information display determining step), determining whether the display mode input from the outside is an optimum mode for a display monitor(optimum mode determining step;S17), and displaying the input display mode is optimizing for a predetermined time period(optimization OSD display step;S20).
