A method for producing polyamides from dinitriles and diamines by reacting a t least one dinitrile and at least one diamine with water at a temperature of 90- 400 ~C, at a pressure of 0.1 - 50*106 Pa and with a mol ratio of water to th e sum of dinitrile plus diamine of at least 1:1 in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst selected from the group consisting of aluminium oxide , zinc oxide, silicon oxide, oxides of the second to seventh subgroup of the periodic table, lanthanoid and actinide oxides, phyllosilicates and zeoliths ; The invention also relates to polyamides obtained according to said method.< /SDOAB>
