The invention relates to a method for determining the angular position of a rotative part which performs a rotational movement (1). The length of a winding band (5) which is modified according to the rotational movement is evaluated in a simple, reliable and unrestricted manner. The winding band is positioned in a housing (3) on a support (4) and consists of at least one conductor (6). At least one measuring inductivitiy (12, 13) is used to detect the electromagnetic field coupling between the measuring inductivity and the winding band (5) and the rotational angle of the rotatative part (1) is determined therefrom. The method can be used to determine the angle of the steering wheel of motor vehicles.
