A device for coupling a short pulse laser into a microscope includes a dispersion element 1 for spatially separating the spectral components of the laser beam. Following dispersion the laser beam is manipulated by a spatial light modulator (SLM) 2 and then passed through a second dispersion element 3 to cancel the spatial separation. The SLM is preferably a nematic liquid crystal device and can adjust the transmission or phase shift of a spectral component. Each of the dispersion elements 1, 3 may be a prism or grating and has an associated lens L1, L2 to create a Fourier plane.
|
