PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute an efficient recording operation by recording as many scanning lines as possible within a range of an allowable consumption amount of power in one scan. SOLUTION: It is judged whether or not the number of dots recorded in one scanning and recording exceeds a predetermined judge value. When the number exceeds the judge value, recording elements related to a sum of the numbers of dots hitherto are selected, and scanning lines of the number corresponding to the selected recording elements are scanned and recorded. Also, a paper is transferred by a distance corresponding to the number of recorded scanning lines.
