PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supernatant water discharge apparatus fast in operation up to the start of the discharge of supernatant water and capable of efficiently discharging supernatant water. SOLUTION: A water gathering container body 8 having a water gathering port 7 provided to the upper part thereof and having an introducing pipe part 6 arranged thereto along the up and down direction thereof is provided and the lower end of the introducing pipe part 6 is connected to the discharge part 10a of a drain pump 10. The branch suction pipe 11 branched from the intermediate part of the intoruding pipe part 6 to be connected to the suction part 10b of the drain pump 10 is provided and the discharge pipe 12 branched from the intermediate part between the lower end part of the introducing pipe part 6 and the branch position of the branch suction pipe 11 to be extended to the outside of a sewage treatment tank 1 is provided. An ascending and descending rod 14 freely rising and falling in the introducing pipe part 6 is provided and a lid body freely opening and closing the water gathering port 7 is provided to the upper end part of the ascending and descending rod 14. A water receiver 16 is provided to the lower end part of the lift rod 14 and receives the discharge water at a time of the operation of the drain pump 10 to raise the rod 14 to a rising position to cut off the continuity state of the branch suction pipe 11 and the discharge pipe 12 through the introducing pipe part 6.
