PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably knit a knitting yarn by preventing the knitting yarn from staying on the tip of a movable sinker corresponding to a knitting needle not carrying out a knitting action. SOLUTION: A movable sinker corresponding to a knitting needle not subjected to a knitting work is once shifted from a pressing position for pressing a knit fabric to a releasing position for releasing the knit fabric by the forward or backward movement of the corresponding knitting needle from a base position, and then returned to the pressing position. Consequently, the knitting yarn is pressed down at a lower position than that of the movable sinker without staying on the tip of a movable sinker corresponding to a knitting needle not carrying out a knitting action.
