PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a rotary valve without increasing the cost. SOLUTION: A powder transport chamber is surrounded with a body casing formed by a pair of facing plates 2 shaped substantially like a roof tile, having a circular-arc surface 2a inside, a driving part side plate 3 intersecting perpendicularly to the driving part side of the paired facing plates 2, the end parts thereof being connected to each other by bolts 3a, a driven part side plate 4 intersecting perpendicularly to the driven part side of the paired side plates 2, the end parts thereof being connected to each other by bolts 4a. This rotary valve is formed by the above powder transport chamber, a driven side bearing 6 fixed to the driven part side plate 4, a shaft 7 passed through the inside of the powder transport chamber to be rotatably journalled to the driven side bearing 6 and formed of stainless steel, a shaft cover 9 and a rotor 10 fixed to the shaft 7. In this case, the facing plates 2, the driving part side plate 3, the driven part side plate 4, and the rotor 10 are cast by corrosion resisting and wear resisting aluminum or aluminum alloy obtained by conducting surface hard processing such as oxide film forming processing for aluminum or aluminum alloy.
