PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly put articles to be packaged into a bag body by preventing adherence of the inside face of a packaging material when a packaging work is executed by using a roll made up by rolling up a flat tubular packaging material. SOLUTION: For a packaging apparatus 1 comprising a driving roller 8 for transferring a packaging material F from a roll made up by rolling up a flat tubular packaging material F, an upper heater 65 for sealing the front end of the packaging material F, a cutter 62 for cutting a part above the sealed part, holding devices 70, 70 for holding from both sides and opening the upper end of a bag body F1 made up by cutting, and a lower heater 66 for sealing the upper end of the bag body F1, U-shaped plate springs 42, 42 working in expansion and contraction in the direction intersecting at a right angle a flat surface of the packaging material F are incorporated in a position closer to the upstream side than the cutting position of the packaging material F. While the plate springs 42, 42 are contracted by roller members 53 and 53 arranged at both of the outsides, the plate springs are expanded when the roller members 53 and 53 are retreated, and the packaging material F is expanded from the inside.
