<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock device for a sliding door in which a mechanism for locking (and releasing) a door completing effors to enlarge the field of vision in the sliding door is arranged almost near to a vehicle wall side. SOLUTION: An outer handle 13, a relay mechanism 15 operating by connecting to the handle 13, a lock member 18 connected to the relay mechanism 15 with a link and a door latch member 19 are arranged to the inside of a vehicle wall 12 approaching an opening covered with a sliding door 10 moving along a driver room or the outside of a vehicle chamber, strikers 20-2 interlocking with the lock member 18 and door latch member 19 are provided to a door side, and since the lock and release of the door are exclusively made on the vehicle wall side, it is not required to make a space for the outer handle 13 in the sliding door itself, there is no possibility of disturbing the field of vision accordingly. A lock device is scarcely provided to the sliding door 10 side, and a small handle is only mounted thereto, so that a narrow frame of the door can be also settled, the door can be lightly formed, and the door can be smoothly opened and closed.</p> |
