PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrostatic ink jet recorder in which granular feeling is suppressed at a highlight part by enlarging the gradation range so that a small dot can be ejected. SOLUTION: In an electrostatic ink jet recorder where pigment based ink carried from an ink tank is carried by an electrophoretic electrode to a slit part at the ejection end and ejected by a recording electrode, a recording electrode voltage control section applies a prepulse 401 for principally aggregating pigment particles in the pigment based ink at the forward end part of the recording electrode, and an ejection pulse 400 for principally driving ejection of the pigment based ink from the slit part. Durations of the prepulse 401 and the ejection pulse 400 are altered simultaneously depending on the size of an ejected liquid drop 212. |
